Unexplained Sudden Dripping Faucets and Running Toilets - Debris in Your Line

This time of year there can be breaks in the public water system that effect the water lines to your home. There are a couple of things you may want to consider BEFORE you call your plumber. If the water has been off in your neighborhood, there is a great possibility that when service is restored, trash (corrosion from the pipes) will be loose in the pipes. This "trash" can travel into the fixtures in your home and cause some surprises. IF you suddenly experience a dripping faucet or running toilet, try flushing your toilet several times (if your toilet is running); or if a drip occurs in your faucet, run water, turning it on and off several times, using both hot and cold sides. Often this will clear the debris in your line and correct the problem. If it doesn't, then a service call from the plumber may be in order.
